All about us...

Stephen and Pauline grew up together in ‘Sunny’ Bognor Regis, were married in 1981 and have 3 children.

“We both joined the Choir at the age of 8, and went on to form a Worship Band in response to a growing Youth Ministry in our area. ‘Crossword’ was formed in 1991, and soon found its own ministry of outreach in a number churches across West Sussex. We have helped with Children’s days in the Cathedral, Residential Youth Weekends, Churches Together events, even Carnival Floats! And our annual Diocesan Youth Festival weekends. Pauline

We began writing Worship songs to help underpin the central themes in the Diocesan weekends organised by the’ YES’ team (‘YES’ or ‘You Equipped to Serve’ is the Children’s & Youth department in the Chichester Diocese).

‘Crossword’ concluded its ministry in 2000, and took advantage of a golden opportunity to record 5 of our songs in the studios of the University of Surrey, Guildford as part of our Keyboard players’ degree. Although the younger members of the band have got married or moved away, we all continue to serve God in our own ministries of worship and hope that our music goes on to do the same.

StephenWe have worshipped in several of our local churches depending on where our ministries have guided us, and joined the church family here in Pagham back in 2004. During our time here we have both seen our ministries grow and feel that God has some exciting times ahead of us – so we wait to see how He will direct us in the future.”

Pauline is still involved in the Diocesan Youth events, and although no longer running the Youth Group she now enjoys a more supportive role to the younger leaders at St Thomas’. Pauline is also a member of the LCA (Lay ministers of Communion) team. She continues in her role as Administration Officer on the Management Team at the Arena Sports Centre – and if that wasn’t enough - she is now studying Theology at Chichester University part time!

Stephen takes more of a supporting (old man) role at the Diocesan Youth events, but now finds himself leading a small slot of worship on Sunday mornings. He continues to write worship songs with Pauline, but these are now aimed at our church family worship rather than the youth. He continues to work in Automotive engineering which often takes him away from home, but usually tries to get a crafty hour or three in the home studio in the loft at the weekends!

We have also now made our ‘Cursillo’… if you’d like to know more about that go to the links page and click on Chichester Cursillo.
